Tips & Tricks to Care For Your Beautiful New Towels

Here are a few ideas that you can use to extend the life and maximize the performance of your new towels.

First, you always want to wash your towels prior to first use. This insures maximum absorbency of the towel by rinsing out any excess sizing left from the manufacturing process as well as revitalizing the pile of the towel.

When using bleach as part of the laundering process either use a non-chlorine bleach such as Clorox 2 or if using chlorine bleach use very sparingly. The extra up-front expense of using non-  chlorine bleach will pay for itself in the long run with longer product  life.

To make sure that towels come out clean as possible always consider the following. Load the washer to 50% capacity to insure that the product is receiving enough chemicals to clean. Warm water is the general recommended washing temperature. For loads that have more stains you may experiment with washing at higher temperatures, increasing laundry chemicals, or decreasing load size.

Never use fabric softeners. Not only do they reduce absorbency of towels but overuse of softeners can turn White towels dingy.

When drying towels for the first time always inspect the lint trap at some point in the cycle. New towels produce lots of lint and it is always a good idea to remove that lint at some point in the first cycle the towels are dried. Also, experiment on drying times. Quite often it is discovered that towels are over-dried significantly which reduces the softness and life of the towel.

These ideas are universal to the laundering process whether it is a luxury bath sheet for a 5 star hotel or a restaurant kitchen towel. How they best work for you depends on your actual product, it’s usage, and the laundry environment. As always, please contact with any questions or comments regarding your towel and linen needs.
